The magic of wood

My name is Michelle Klement and Rescued Wood Studio is my creation.

Originally a farm brat from the Adelaide Hills, SA, I worked hard and lived an amazing corporate lifestyle both in Australia and overseas, travelling extensively for 20 plus years.

You never know where life will take you and until early 2016, I was somewhat a drifter and had lived in A LOT of places. I was offered an employment contract which required me to move to the mid north coast of NSW and suddenly, I had found “my place”.

Living here found me surrounded by so much wildlife, birds, bush and rainforests, and had opened my eyes to the beauty of nature.

In December 2017, a dear friend presented me with a stunning slab of old, recycled timber which I still use each and every day as a serving tray. However, after receiving and gazing at this beautiful gift I was curious to look further into this whole wood thing.

Then in 2020, COVID hit and it had a strange effect on our planet and we all found ourselves in a place we never thought we would be in.

I found myself hanging out with Lucy at Footprints in Style farm. Genuinely the most amazing, inspiring place – a place that many of my ideas come from! A few short months, some trial projects on family and friends plus a 4-day workshop in Mullumbimby and I was hooked and addicted to searching for timber.

It was a big decision, but I was willing to trade my manicured fingernails for “tradies” hands! My friends who know me will understand how much of a big decision this was! Thus, Rescued Wood Studio was born!

Please reach out should you have any questions; I would love to hear from you!

Let’s be real, it’s not pretty work and most days I end up covered in dust or paint, dirty & smelly but hey, mostly with a huge grin!
